STATEMENT: Megan Barry Becomes Presumptive Democratic Nominee in TN-7
Campaign releases new video featuring diverse coalition of support
Nashville, TN - With no other entrants in the race at last week’s state qualifying deadline, Megan Barry became the presumptive Democratic nominee for Tennessee’s Seventh Congressional District seat. In the November general election she will face the winner of an August Republican primary – probably the incumbent Mark Green.
"It’s an honor to stand as the presumptive Democratic nominee for TN-7," said Megan Barry. "Our campaign is not just about winning votes; it’s about winning hearts and minds. We're here to offer a positive vision for our district, one that transcends party lines and brings people together to address the issues facing Middle Tennessee."
This announcement comes as Barry releases a new video featuring supporters discussing the reasons they believe in her and her campaign. The video can be viewed here.
Last week the campaign announced its successful first quarter fundraising results.
Barry's campaign focus on bipartisan collaboration, pragmatic solutions, and tangible results for TN-7 stands in stark contrast with Mark Green’s record of extremism, political posturing, and ineffectiveness. In Congress, Barry’s priorities will include protecting reproductive freedom, reducing gun violence, creating economic opportunities, safeguarding benefits for seniors, and addressing the devastation of the opioid epidemic.
"Megan is deeply committed to representing the interests of all residents in TN-7, not just Democrats," said campaign manager Tucker Karnes. "This campaign is about bringing people together, bridging partisan divides, and delivering real change. The people of the Seventh District deserve a representative who will work on their behalf to overcome the gridlock and dysfunction that have plagued Congress for too long.
"As the presumptive Democratic nominee, Megan Barry looks forward to continuing to engage with voters from all 14 counties of TN-7, listening to their concerns and sharing her positive vision for the future.
As a mother, wife, businessperson, community leader, and former elected official, Megan Barry has spent her effort and energy into making life better for the people around her. She is running for Congress because she believes that Middle Tennesseans deserve better representation in Washington, D.C. In Congress she plans to work across the aisle, forge consensus, and partner with those who share her vision of an economy and a government that works for everyone.
